It has taken no time at all for actress Chrissy Metz to become one of the most popular actresses on TV thanks to her role as Kate Pearson on This Is Us.
As it turns out, her personal life has taken off along with her professional life, and after hinting at her new boyfriend, she finally revealed he is none other than Josh Stancil who also works on the hit series, and now she has opened up about how they got together.
The actress told Marie Claire that she spotted him right away eating his lunch in between scenes, “I was like, ‘Oh he’s cute,’ with shorts and his backward hat, kind of masculine.” Metz added that before she could think of anything else to say she blurted out, “Before I even know it, I called out, ‘You better slow down or you’re going to choke on your food.’ I am typically a little more charismatic than that, I swear.”
Despite the not so smooth line, it worked and a month later they went out for drinks which the 36-year-old says was “very unexpected. My priority was my job and I was not trying to blow my big shot.” She then revealed that Stancil even suggested giving up his job on the series if it made it easier for them to be together, “Josh even offered to go work on another show,” Metz said.
Although she is very happy with Stancil, and he didn’t have to give up his job, Metz opened up about how she has found success in dating and the key is confidence. “I don’t have to have a man in my life, and I think men are attracted to that. I know that men — or women, whoever you’re attracted to — are attracted to women with something-something, but because we’re taught that [thin] is beautiful, it’s more accepted to like skinny girls. It’s weird if men like big girls, like, Oh, do you have a fetish?”
As for Stancil, 40, Metz did reveal she is the first plus-size woman he has dated, but it is not something that matters. “I’m like, ‘Is this weird?’ He’s like, ‘No,’ And that’s the end.”
