With more than 625,000 likes to date, Blake Lively’s recent Instagram post has created quite the storm on social media.

Yesterday, 28 year old Lively posted a side-by-side shot of herself on the red carpet at the Cannes International Film Festival donning a gold sparkly gown. On the right side of the image, Lively is seen smiling for the camera, while the left, she’s viewed from behind. Her caption reads, “L.A. face with an Oakland booty,” a reference to Sir Mix-a-lot’s 1992 hit, “Baby Got Back.” The post sparked criticism online with several Twitter users calling out Lively for her ignorance of the racial connotations of the song. Some users say Lively is being offensive and racist towards women of color (WOC), while others have come to her defense, suggesting there is nothing wrong with quoting song lyrics. Some examples include, “Love you @blakelively Dont listen to the haters!!,” and “Blake Blakely I speak on behalf of everyone when I say YOU CANNOT.”

Lively has yet to respond to the criticism, and has not felt the need to remove the Instagram picture. What do you think about her post?
