10 Most Anticipated Celebrity Fragrances of 2013

Celebrity perfumes are steadily becoming more commonplace in the beauty industry. More stars are interested in expanding their brand with a fragrance. Elizabeth Taylor and her perfume White Diamonds was one of the pioneers for celebrity branded fragrances. White Diamonds grew into an outstanding success from its launch in 1991, with sales of over 60 million globally for the perfume to date. Now celebrities like Jessica Simpson, Beyonce, and even  Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi are launching their own scents.

Here are some of the most anticipated fragrances to hit stores this year.

1. Beyonce:  Beyonce Heat The Mrs Carter Show World Tour Limited Edition

The Grammy winning singer also has plenty of accomplishments in the beauty industry. Her Heat collection of perfumes has been named the top selling celebrity fragrance brand globally. Her perfume Heat has raked in more than 21 million dollars in sales. B’s most recent addition to the the Heat collection is the The Mrs Carter Show World Tour Limited Edition. The perfume has notes of acai berry, orchid, jasmine and madagascar vanilla.

The perfume will be released in October.

2.  Jennifer Lopez: Forever Glowing

Forever Glowing will be JLos 20th fragrance to hit shelves. Jennifer Lopez has proven success in the fragrance industry- her  first perfume Glow by JLo performed exceedingly well with more than 47 million dollars in sales in its first year of release. Her fragrance Forever Glowing has top notes of saffron and white honey. The middle notes are creamy jasmine and neroli. Iris, patchouli and vanilla are the base notes of the fragrance.

Forever Glowing was launched in February.

3. One Direction:  Our Moment 

The fragrance by the X Factor group has become a bona fide success in stores. Their fragrance, launched in August at Harrods, reaped more than £360,000 in its first week of sales in Britain. Our Moment is a floral fragrance with top notes of red currant, pink grapefruit and forest fruits. The middle notes bloom with frangipani and jasmine. The base notes contain patchouli and musk.

4. Justin Bieber : The Key 

Justin Bieber fragrance The Key, is a follow up to his previous forays into the fragrance industry – Someday and Girlfriend. Launched in July, the design is simple but elegant – a white bottle with a gold lock. The bottle also carries a lock with crystal, which symbolizes hopes and dreams. Top notes include fruits, the heart contains a bouquet, and the base has vanilla and musk tones.

The Key was released in July 2013.

5. Taylor Swift:   Taylor by Taylor Swift 

Taylor Swift’s  fragrance Wonderstruck was the top selling celebrity fragrance of 2011. “My first fragrance, Wonderstruck, it was all about a day dream, a fantasy, this romantic ideal that we all have,” Taylor said.“I love telling stories, I love starting at the beginning and adding things as you go. This is truly a nice page to add to that story.” While Wonderstruck was about a fairytale,  her new perfume Taylor, relates  more of  to her  signature style and concerns her life with family and friends. The bottle has a clear glass design with crystal stopper surrounded by pearls. The perfume contains top notes of  magnolia pearls and lychee. The heart carries hyrdrangea and vanilla notes. The base includes cashmere musk and apricot nectar.

Taylor by Taylor Swift was released in June.

6. Rihanna:  777 Nude by Rihanna Diamonds 

Following the lucrative lauch of her previous fragrances Rebelle Fleur and Rebelle, the Barbadian pop singer is releasing a tribute to her 777 tour with 777 Nude by Rihanna “Diamonds” Limited Edition. The packaging also pays homage to lead single from the album Unapologetic – Diamonds. The top notes carry  mandarin, guava, and pear scents. The heart notes contain orange blossom and gardenia flowers. The base notes include sandlwood and vanilla orchid notes.

The perfume was released in February.

7. Nicki Minaj : Minajesty

Nicki Minaj’s   debut perfume Pink Friday was the third best selling fragrance of 2012. The Grammy nominated rapper released a new perfume in September called Minajesty. The bottle has a trademark pink hair over a crystal bottle with a red bustier. The perfume opens with red berries and peach. The heart blooms with orchid and frangipani. The base carries notes of musk and vanilla.

8. Katy Perry: Killer Queen 

Katy Perry debuted her third fragrance this year with Killer Queen. The pop singer describes that the title, named after a Queen song deeply resonates with her. ”Freddie Mercury painted the lyrics of this woman who I wanted to be. She seemed very powerful, and she captivated a room when she walked in. I named my company Killer Queen after those lyrics. I feel like, after all this time, it was appropriate to use that name in association with something I did.” The perfume has powerful and cultivated nuances with top notes of  dark plum and wild berries. The heart blooms with Rainbow plumeria and Sambac jasmine. The base carries notes of liquid praline and cashmere.

This perfume was released in August.

9. Halle Berry : Exotic  Jasmine

Hally Berry experience great commercial success with the release of her  Halle by Halle Berry. Since then, Halle has released six perfumes. The perfume Exotic Jasmine launched this year took inspiration from Berrys view of strong and liberated femininity. The fragrance opens with water lilies and ferns. The heart blooms with mimose and violet. The base carries notes of cedar and cashmere wood. The bottle is translucent with flowers covering the right side of the bottle.

The perfume was released in August.

10. Britney Spears : Island Fantasy

Since 2004, Britney Spears has raked in sales for her fragrances. Her debut fragrance Curious, reaped $100 million in sales in its first five weeks in that year. Her new perfume Island Fantasy, takes inspiration from a tropical paradise. The top notes carry notes of mandarin, red berries and watermelon. The heart notes are jasmine and violet, resting with a base of  sugar cane and musk.

The perfume was released in April 2013.
