Many stars seem to prefer to sport a longer hairstyle, but there are a few brave celebs who will chop off their long locks for a short and hip hairstyle. 7. Maggie Gyllenhaal

Maggie Gyllenhaal, best known for her role in the “The Dark Knight,” chopped her hair off in April of 2013. According to Gyllenhaal, she couldn’t figure out what to do with it, so she had it cut off. “When I was 25, I had really short hair and I thought I would never do it again, but it feels great to have really short hair now that the weather has gotten warm,” Gyllenhaal said.

In 2012, Miley Cyrus boldly traded her long locks for a pixie cut. In an interview with “Rolling Stone” Cyrus said, “There’s something empowering about what I’m doing right now.  Especially having ‘short hair, don’t care.’  I think it’s empowering for girls.  Because there’s not one thing that defines what beauty is.”
