12 Celebrities Who Have Taken Tanning Too Far!

In Hollywood, many celebrities seem to love tanning but, for a select few, the procedure has (or had) become an obsession. It’s easy to spot these celebrities from a mile away as they tend to have an orange tinge to their skin tone. The orange tinge tends to be a result of spray tans (hey, at least they’re trying to be healthier!). Here are 12 celebrities who have taken tanning TOO far!

12. Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton has always loved tanning. Whether she is lounging around in a bikini, hitting the tanning beds or getting a spray tan, she does her best to look tanned year round. Unfortunately, she seems to overdo it. She has been spotted around Los Angeles with dark orange skin that makes her look completely unnatural.

11. Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan can’t seem to stay out of trouble and she also can’t seem to stop self-tanning. Instead of embracing her pale skin and freckles, she chooses to sport an orange hue, which often makes her face look dirty.

10. Denise Richards

Denise Richards is an amazing mother and she is also one of the most patient women in Hollywood – she deals with Charlie Sheen and his insanity on a regular basis, which is impressive. However, she really needs to lay off the tanning. Her skin is practically orange!

9. Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera is said to be a fan of spray tanning and she may be one of the few stars who has experienced a self-tanner malfunction while performing. While singing at Etta James’ funeral, the “Dirrty” singer was so nervous her sweat caused her spray tan to streak.

8. Tara Reid

These days, the only place we really see Tara Reid is on the beach in a bikini, looking ultra tanned. Even when she makes one of her rare appearances on the red carpet, her skin looks brown and leathery, which is anything but flattering.

7. Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian isn’t the most natural looking celebrity. She looks like she has had electrolysis done to remove the baby hairs on her face and she also looks like she gets Botox regularly. Her love of tanning beds and spray tans doesn’t help. When she overdoes the tanning, her skin looks like plastic.

6. Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman has been guilty of loving tanning a little too much. Back in 2007, she showed up at a number of events looking like she cooked her skin. Lucky for her, she is so poised. She can carry a bad tan with an incredible amount of dignity.

5. Rachel Zoe

Rachel Zoe is living the dream. She has a great job as a stylist to the stars; she has a great husband; and she has two adorable children. Unfortunately, she seems to be a lover of spray tans, which isn’t doing her skin any favors – it looks leathery when she tans!

4. Brooke Hogan

Brooke Hogan is no stranger to the sun. She has been spotted countless times at the beach, laying out and soaking in the sun, which is awful for her skin for so many reasons. The former reality TV star also looks like she is a fan of spray tanning, which would explain why her skin is often that noticeably orange color.

3. Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz is the quintessential California girl with her blond hair, tanned skin and easygoing personality. While the Golden Globe-nominated actress has skin that tans easily, she takes the tanning thing a little too far. She has shown up at too many events with orange skin.

2. Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow is one of the most health-conscious actresses out there. She exercises excessively, follows a strict diet and detoxes regularly – but she tans so much that her skin turns a brown-orange color. According to the Oscar-winning actress, she doesn’t see how the sun is bad. “We’re human beings and the sun is the sun – how can it be bad for you? I think we should all get sun and fresh air. I don’t think anything that is natural can be bad for you – it’s really good to have at least 15 minutes of sun a day,” Paltrow said.

1. Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson has said that she plans to stop fake tanning. “When it comes to beauty, I think a big misconception is the tanner you are, the more beautiful you are. It’s not always true. I look back on a lot of pictures where I’m really tan, and I’m like, ‘Whoa!’” She still looks a little orange from time to time, so maybe fake tanning is harder to quit than we thought!
