On Sunday, August 30, 2015, stars flocked to the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles for the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, and as was expected, there was a lot of craziness from wacky red carpet outfits to Miley Cyrus hosting to performances. When placing Cyrus as the host for the night, MTV made it clear they were setting a new level for “anything can happen” in live awards shows and, naturally, Cyrus pushed the limits of how naked one can be on network television with her many barely there styles. Surprisingly however, there was a lot more that made the audience go “what!?” than just Cyrus’s outfits and, in case you missed the show, here are the top 5 moments you have to see from the 2015 VMAs.

5. Kanye Declares 2020 Presidency Run

Even when Kanye West has nothing to do with what is going on on stage, there is no guarantee he won’t just go up there and start popping off about something anyway, and for that reason alone, we knew MTV giving him the spotlight and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award would mean an over-the-top typical Kanye speech. West rambled for ten minutes, trying to prove how intelligent and deep he really is, but thankfully did not resort to stating he is the “greatest living rockstar,” and after the strange speech he dropped his real big statement. “And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.” Good news Americans, you have four and a half years to move.

4. Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj Make Amends

This awards show had drama before the stage was even set as we all remember the quick and bitter feud that erupted between megastars Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj when the nominations were made. The two ladies have since stated that it was a “misunderstanding” and all is well between the two, but just to prove it, Swift was a surprise guest for Minaj’s opening performance. The two even made fun of their mini-feud by breaking into “Bad Blood” and then ended their duet with a hug.

3. Kanye West and Taylor Swift Bury The Hatchet

It has been six years and no one is over the now infamous “Imma let you finish” moment between West and Swift at the 2009 VMAs. To capitalize on the moment MTV had the “Wildest Dreams” singer present West with his Video Vanguard Award and, although they had stated that everything was good between them, they used the moment to once again bury the hatchet and they also hugged it out. In his acceptance speech, he rambled on about that moment when he took the mic from Swift and also once again talked about how he doesn’t like award shows. He’s a broken record.

2. Justin Bieber Cries After Performing New Single

Justin Bieber had a big day prior to the VMA awards when he released his newest single “What Do You Mean?” to a great reception on Friday, August 29. While his hairstyle got no love on the red carpet, the Biebs rocked his performances of “Where Are U Now” and then “What Do You Mean?” and at then end broke down in front of a screaming crowd. His sobbing caught everyone by surprise as he is taking this “bad-boy turned good” routine to a new level. Even Cyrus didn’t know what do, “Okay…wow. Okay…well…” she stated as she tried to draw attention back to herself.

1. Nicki Minaj Calls Out Miley Cyrus

Fresh out of feuds after making amends with Swift earlier in the night, Minaj used her acceptance speech for Best Hip-Hop Music Video for her hit “Anaconda” to call out fellow wave-maker and the night’s host Miley Cyrus. She thanked her fans and pastor and then took a nasty turn with, “Now back to this b–ch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what’s good?” she yelled at Cyrus who was standing on another stage ready to take over. Cyrus simply responded with, ‘We all do interviews. We all know how they manipulate sh-t. Congratuf–kinglations, Nicki.” Minaj kept yelling, but luckily her mic was off. Many have already speculated the whole thing was staged for ratings, but other outlets report it wasn’t at all and Cyrus “was pissed” and went backstage yelling and cursing about Minaj.
