George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin tied the knot in a glamorous ceremony at the Aman Canal Grande in Venice, Italy – and plenty of other celebrities were in attendance.
George’s fellow actors Bill Murray, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski all took water taxis to arrive at the wedding ceremony, which included 100 guests and lasted for 30 minutes. Although it was star studded, the wedding remained intimate and heartfelt. Model Cindy Crawford and U2 frontman Bono also attended the nuptials, which kicked off three days of partying.
“George and Amal radiated love all night,” Alamuddin’s mother, Baria, told People Magazine. “The wedding was so unbelievably special, it was legendary. These three days – the friends, the families, the atmosphere, everything – will stay with me all the rest of my life.”
Family inclusion was important to both Amal and George. At the ceremony, Nora Sagal, a friend’s daughter, serenaded the guests with Irving Berlin’s classic song “Always” – the same song Clooney’s parents, Nick and Nina, danced to at their wedding.
Nick Clooney gushed about the couple in his speech: “George and Amal present us with … belief that in this place and at this moment, love is alive and well.”
