There’s never a shortage of scandals in Hollywood, whether it’s another divorce, cheating allegations, on-set feuds, or more recently, allegations of abuse. We sometimes put celebrities on a pedestal and think they can do no wrong, but at the end of the day, they are humans who make mistakes, some worse than others. Not surprisingly, their mistakes have serious consequences which can greatly affect their careers. Here’s a look at 9 stars who were dropped from their network after being in the center of a public scandal.
9. Derick Dillard
In November 2017, TLC announced they would no longer work with Derick Dillard after he tweeted controversial comments about fellow reality star, Jazz Jennings. He tweeted: “I pity Jazz 4 those who take advantage of him in order 2 promote their agenda, including the parents who allow these kinds of decisions 2 be made by a child. It’s sad that ppl would use a juvenile this way. Again, nothing about him, just unfortunate what’s on tv these days.” Not surprisingly, many people were upset and called him out for not using the proper pronoun and proceeding to call Jazz a “he” when she’s documented her transition from male to female in an award-winning series on TLC since she was 5. TLC released a statement that they are proud to work with Jazz Jennings and her family, and will continue to do so. Derick’s statements do not reflect their views, so he will no longer be featured on their network, or the show, Counting On.

Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, better known by his stage name, CeeLo Green, is a singer, songwriter, rapper and record producer. The former judge on The Voice dipped into the reality TV genre by creating his own show, The Good Life which premiered on TBS in 2014. The unscripted docu-series show was dropped by the Turner-owned cable network after only one season. The decision was made after Green made controversial tweets about the nature of rape. He deleted the tweets shortly after posting them, but the damage was done. He compared rape to a home invasion and implied that women can only be raped if they are conscious. It didn’t take long for an online petition to start circling, gathering signatures to pressure TBS to drop him from their network and cancel the show. To make matters worse, he had recently pleaded no contest to a felony count of furnishing ecstasy to a woman and previously faced sexual assault charges in 2012.

Streaming network Netflix has announced it will no longer work with Kevin Spacey in any capacity and that the production of House of Cards final season is on hold. His upcoming film, Gore, a biopic which he starred in and produced, will also not be released. All of this comes at the heels of Anthony Rapp’s accusation that Spacey tried to seduce him back in 1986 when Rapp was 14. Since then more people have come forward to accuse Spacey of inappropriate behavior. Eight current and former House of Cards employees also came forward and claimed Spacey created a “toxic” workplace environment and one even accused him of sexual assault.

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo was one of TLC’s biggest hits until it was unexpectedly canceled in 2014. The show had only been on air for two years when it was discovered that Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson’s mother, “Mama June” Shannon, was dating a convicted child molester named Mark McDaniel. Shannon denied the allegations, but there were photographs to prove it. Not only was McDaniel a convicted felon who’d just served a 10-year sentence, but June’s eldest daughter, Anna Marie Cardwell, claimed she was one of McDaniel’s victims back when her mother first dated him. Surprisingly this didn’t end Shannon’s career. She bounced back with a huge weight loss story that is being documented on WE tv’s special Mama June: From Not to Hot which was recently renewed for a second season, but TLC has wiped their hands clean of her.

Former Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick has been abandoned by BBC after he was accused of sexual assault by three separate women. He was first accused of rape by actress Kristina Cohen, then Aurelie Wynn, and more recently creative producer Rachel Eck who alleged he “aggressively groped” her at a hotel in Hollywood. BBC made an announcement that it would not air the upcoming miniseries, Ordeal by Innocence, starring Westwick, and paused production on his other show, White Gold. While the actor hasn’t been officially dropped by the network yet, BBC is halting all production while the allegations are dealt with because he’s currently under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.

Professional football player Chad Ochocino, now known as Chad Johnson, married Basketball Wives star, Evelyn Lozada in 2012. Only two months after they tied the knot, Ochocino was arrested for domestic battery by the Florida police. He allegedly got into an argument with his wife and headbutted her. He was released on bond, and later that day was dropped by the Miami Dolphins. A few days later Evelyn filed for divorce which was finalized in September 2012. When all of this went down, the married couple had just filmed a VH1 show called Ev & Ocho, a spinoff of Basketball Wives, that was slated to premiere in September 2012. Not surprisingly, after news of his arrest broke, VH1 pulled the entire series from their line up and dropped it from any future scheduling.

It was one of the biggest scandals in 2015 that has only seemed to continually grow in the years that followed. Josh Duggar, the eldest son of Michelle and Jim Bob from TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, was revealed to have sexually abused underage girls, including his sisters, between 2002 and 2003. The incident was seemingly buried because Josh was never arrested and a police report was never filed. Josh released a statement in which he confessed and reassured fans he and his victims had “received counseling.” A few months later he was once again the center of attention in the Ashley Madison scandal. The Christian advocate and executive director of Family Research Council was discovered to have spent almost a thousand dollars on subscriptions and disturbing details about his bedroom interests were publicly revealed. He once again released a public apology, admitted to cheating on his wife and having an addiction to pornography. He checked himself into a long-term treatment center, but his family’s cash cow show was dropped from TLC.

This southern chef rose to fame after she began appearing on the Food Network, and was eventually awarded her own show Paula’s Home Cooking in 2002. The Georgia native quickly became one of the networks biggest stars and landed two more shows, Paula’s Party and Paula’s Best Dishes. It all came to an end in 2013 when it was revealed during a legal deposition that she’d admitted to using the N-word and other discriminatory remarks. Two months later, the Food Network announced they would not be renewing her contract at the end of the month, thus not only booting her from the show but the network entirely! She made a comeback in 2015, not with the Food Network, but on her own channel on Roku. She also competed in the 21st season of Dancing with the Stars. Today she owns and operates a family restaurant with her sons, and continues to write cookbooks.

The most recent scandal on this list involves veteran journalist, Charlie Rose. The CBS This Morning co-host was fired from CBS after being accused of sexual misconduct from various co-workers. The first round of allegations caused Rose to be suspended from CBS and dropped by PBS after eight women who formerly worked for his production company or once tried to get a job came forward and accused him of sexual harassment. Their accounts date all the way back to 1999 to as recent as 2011 and describe him groping them, exposing himself and making lewd phone calls. On November 22, he was officially dropped from CBS after three unnamed CBS employees came forward and accused him of more misconduct.
