Finding love in Hollywood isn’t as easy as it might seem. While many stars fall in love on-set or by running in the same circles, others have turned to something much more common — getting set up on a blind date. Finding time to get to know someone and date is tricky for a lot of stars, but luckily their friends were looking out for them when they decided to set them up with someone they thought would be a good match. Although some of these couples didn’t work out, others couldn’t be happier! Here are 9 celebrity couples who met on a blind date:

9. Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid

Former Friends actress Courteney Cox was married to fellow actor David Arquette from 1999-2010 and finalized the divorce in 2013, and when she was ready to jump into the dating pool again, a surprising friend helped her out — Ed Sheeran. The popular singer ended up introducing Cox to Snow Patrol band member Johnny McDaid. “My housemate [Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid] who I’ve lived with for a year, I introduced him to Courteney Cox. They started dating and [are] crazy about each other,” Sheeran revealed in an interview about setting the two up in late 2013. Although Cox and McDaid became engaged in June 2014, they called it off nearly two years later and even though they later reconciled, they still haven’t made it down the aisle.

8. Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris

Taylor Swift is well known for her many and varied romances, but one of her biggest and longest lasting was with Calvin Harris. After so many romance misses in her life, her friend Ellie Goulding thought Swift and Harris would make a good match so she set them up. “I did play matchmaker. That’s true,” Goulding said. “Calvin is a really great mate and he’s so fantastic, and Taylor is such a cool person who I love. I thought, ‘They’re both really awesome and both really tall, they’ll be brilliant together!'” While things went well for over a year, the two called it quits in June 2016.

7. Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber

Since 1998, gorgeous model Cindy Crawford and the handsome Rande Gerber have been married and now share two children, but it all started with a blind date set up! Following her divorce from Richard Gere in 1995, the supermodel was ready to start dating again and her agent Michael Gruber, who was a friend of Gerber’s, decided to set them up as dates to his wedding. Of course, it wasn’t entirely a blind date as Gerber was well aware who Crawford was. “I knew who she was, and I knew she was beautiful,” he said. “We decided to meet the night before and get to know each other,” Gerber continued. “I was surprised at how cool and down-to-earth she was.”

6. Hilarie Burton and Jeffrey Dean Morgan

One of Hollywood’s most underrated yet cutest couples is former One Tree Hill actress Hilarie Burton and the charming actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan. While the two might seem like an unlikely couple, partially due to their 16 year age gap, their mutual friends knew they would hit it off so they sent them up on a blind date. As fate would have it, Morgan starred with Jensen Ackles on the hit series Supernatural from 2005-2008, and Burton had starred with Ackles’ wife Danneel on One Tree Hill, so Jensen and Danneel teamed up to get the two together on a blind date. “I happened to be single and Jensen said ‘I’ve got a girl you should meet,’ and so I went to a bar and I met Hilarie at a bar with Jensen and Danneel, and, well, the rest is kind of history,” Morgan revealed. While blind dates are mostly awkward, theirs went incredibly well and they have been together ever since. Now they are parents to a son Augustus who was born in March 2010 and are expecting their second child, a daughter, in the spring of 2018.

5. Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson

Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Khloe Kardashian has always had a thing for basketball players, and even after her rocky marriage to Lamar Odom went off the rails, she fell for another NBA player thanks to a friend. Kardashian was set up with Cleveland Cavaliers player Tristan Thompson in the summer of 2016 on a blind date and now the two are expecting their first child together. “I was put on a blind date with Tristan and that’s how [we met],” she shared. “Brandon Jennings, who is a basketball player and a friend of mine and Malika [Haqq]’s, was like, ‘You’re such a good girl, I want to introduce you to someone.’ I was at the Bel-Air hotel, and [Tristan] came to the dinner. I didn’t want to go on a blind date, so Brandon kind of ambushed the blind date. We just connected.”

4. Lauren Conrad and William Tell

While audiences watched many of Lauren Conrad’s relationships begin and end during her time on Laguna Beach and The Hills, she finally met “the one” off-screen and through a blind date. Although she admitted she technically met him when she was 16 and was sitting onstage at one of his concerts when he was the guitarist for the band Something Corporate, she didn’t think twice about it. Then, 10 years later they were set up on a blind date on Valentine’s Day in 2012. In September 2014, the two tied the knot, and on July 5, 2017, they welcomed their son William “Liam” James.

3. Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky

For both Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky it would be expected that dates would be knocking down their doors in an effort to go out with them, but they weren’t having any luck when it came to love until their mutual dialect coach stepped in. “It was like a blind date,” Pataky said of the first time she met her now-husband Chris Hemsworth. “We had never seen each other before. It was our dialect coach, the person who helped us both with the accent. So, this lady started to talk to each other about each other. Finally, she insisted so much that I thought, ‘Okay, let’s meet.’ We talked on the phone and then we met,” Pataky revealed in an interview. The pair finally met at a mutual business function in early 2010 and were married by the end of the year. “From the first time we met, we just made sense. She’s fun. She’s outgoing, and she has a sense of humor and a passionate attitude toward life, which is nice to try and keep up with,” Hemsworth said. Now they share three children, daughter India and twin boys Sasha and Tristan.

2. Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen are the picture perfect Hollywood couples. With Bundchen being one of the world’s most iconic supermodels and Brady being one of the NFL’s most iconic quarterbacks (with his own model good looks) they are most certainly a power couple, and the friend that set them up knew they would make a fantastic match. “This friend told me he knew a girl version of me,” Brady revealed in a 2009 interview. “And he said to me he’d found the boy version of me,” Bundchen agreed. The friend then set them up on a blind date for dinner in December 2006, and the two have never looked back. “I knew Tom was the one straightaway. I could see it in his eyes that he was a man with integrity who believes in the same things I do,” Bundchen said of their first meeting, adding, “We sat and talked for three hours. I had to go home for Christmas, but I didn’t want to leave. You know that feeling of, like, you can’t get enough? From the first day we met, we’ve never spent one day without speaking to each other.” The two married three years later in February 2009 and have welcomed two children, son Benjamin and daughter Vivian.

1. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

Many have wondered how they could land a date with a Prince and it seems the answer is – have a mutual friend with him because that is how it worked for Meghan Markle. Despite their individual fame, both insist they didn’t know anything about each other and it really was a blind date. Harry even admitted when he went to meet Markle for a drink, he didn’t expect her to be quite so beautiful which threw him off. “I was beautifully surprised when I walked into that room and saw her, and there she was sitting there and I was like, ‘Okay, well I am really going to have to up my game here. I have to sit down and really make sure I’ve got good chat.'” Very quickly into their blind date, the pair realized the chemistry they had and immediately began to plan how they could see each other next with their demanding and busy schedules in two different countries.
