When people become famous at a young age, they often get caught up in an overwhelming party scene. Plus, teenagers don’t even have fully developed brains that help them navigate action and consequences. A sad outcome is that celebrities sometimes end up spending time in rehab while other kids are getting their drivers licenses or attending the prom. Here are eight of the youngest celebrities to go to rehab. You’ll notice a trend of going to rehab for vague reasons:

8. Lindsay Lohan

Before her 21st birthday, Lindsay Lohan had already been to rehab twice. Her first stint was in January 2007 and her second was in May 2007 after she was busting for driving under the influence. Less than two weeks after her second rehab stint, she was arrested a third time for possession of cocaine, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license. “I am not blaming anyone else for my conduct other than myself,” she said in a statement. “I very much want to be healthy and gain control of my life and career and have asked for medical help in doing so.” Lindsay has found herself back in rehab three more times since this, but she now seems to have found a way to stay out of trouble.

7. Selena Gomez

Pop star Selena Gomez was only 22 years old when she checked herself into the Dawn of Meadows rehab center in Arizona for two weeks in 2014. “Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse,” her rep said in a statement. Selena said in her own statement, “It has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.” Selena reportedly went to the facility for emotional issues (some people think that her relationship with Justin Bieber was a big part of that). After leaving Dawn of Meadows, Selena wrote on Instagram, “I’ve done everything I could to the best of my ability. Thank you for the unconditional love and cyber hugs. You inspire me.”
