In Hollywood, there are too many cheating scandals to count; however, there aren’t that many celebrities who come out and admit that they have been unfaithful. We have rounded up 8 celebrities who publicly admitted to cheating, but then gave really lame excuses for doing so.

8. Aaron Carter

Back in the early 2000s, Aaron Carter was a pretty big deal and he had his pick of the ladies. One of his longest-standing relationships back then was with Hilary Duff, who he dumped for Lindsay Lohan! According to the former pop star, he was “bored” with Duff, which is why he decided to start getting to know Lindsay! As if that wasn’t bad enough, Duff ended up taking him back after his relationship with Lohan ended, only for him to cheat on her with her best friend!

7. Jesse James

After he was caught cheating on Sandra Bullock with multiple women, Jesse James claims that one of the reasons why he cheated was because he felt “trapped.” “You’re trapped, I thought suddenly. It came out of nowhere, but you’re trapped pretty good, aren’t you?” he wrote in his memoir American Outlaw. “Mentally at a loss, desperate for something to make me feel like I had some sense of freedom, I ran through the list of things I could do to assert independence over my life. Infidelity, unfortunately, was at the top of my list.” Cheating because he was craving freedom seems like a cop out, but then again, why would we expect a better explanation from James?

6. Jason Aldean

After Jason Aldean was photographed kissing former American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr at a bar back in 2012, he offered his wife of 11 years Jessica Ussery a really lame public apology on his Facebook page. “The truth is that I screwed up. I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar. I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that’s the end of the story. I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself. I’m not perfect, and I’m sorry for disappointing you guys. I really appreciate being able to work through this privately with my family and for all your continued support,” he wrote. While Aldean initially claimed that he was trying to work things out with Ussery, less than a year he had filed for divorce and quickly began dating Kerr (with whom he is now married), which makes his apology seem even more insincere.

5. Mario Lopez

When his marriage to Ali Landry was annulled back in 2004 after an incriminating photo of him surfaced with another woman at his bachelor party, we all knew that he had a crossed a line he shouldn’t have crossed. Rather than be honest with Landry, however, he decided to just go ahead with the wedding. Years later, he spoke about the incident with Howard Stern, claiming, “It was spring break….everybody was hanging out. That was a situation where I was not mature and man enough.” He also confessed, “At that point I was not ready to settle down. I wasn’t man enough to know how to go about handling it.” Yeah. That’s for sure.

When Tiger Woods was caught cheating on Elin Nordegren with over a dozen women, he offered a really lame excuse for being unfaithful. According to him, the reason why he cheated was because he convinced himself that normal rules didn’t him. Understandably, this didn’t fly with Nordegren and she ended up filing for divorce.

3. Lamar Odom

Lamar Odom spent a good portion of his marriage to Khloe Kardashian cheating on her. When he finally opened up about his infidelity to Us Weekly, he didn’t really take responsibility for his actions and instead blamed his mistresses. “When I became Khloe Kardashian’s man and on TV, it made me look more enticing. People who didn’t even know basketball would approach me because they knew Lammy. B-tches and THOTs came out of the woodwork,” he said. “If there is one thing I regret when I was married, it was having multiple affairs with different women. That wasn’t the stand-up thing to do. I wish I could have kept my d-ck in my pants.” You should have kept it in your pants? Well, yeah, but why didn’t you?

2. Dean McDermott

Dean McDermott destroyed any trust Tori Spelling had in him when he was caught cheating with some Canadian random in 2013. When the two attempted the rebuild their relationship on their reality TV True Tori, McDermott offered his wife a really weak excuse for his infidelity during a therapy session. “We have four kids, so in the sex department there were ebbs and flows,” he said. “We would have sex once every two weeks. It wasn’t fantastic.” When the therapist responded to this by telling him that his expectations of what marriage is supposed to be like sexually was like a fairytale, his only defense was, “I’m insatiable. Sex was an escape, just like drugs and alcohol.” How Spelling ever forgave is beyond us.

Josh Duggar always had this attitude like he was holier than thou, so when he was caught with an account with Ashley Madison and OkCupid and had been hooking up with porn stars, people were repulsed. He was a married man with four children and was an advocate for family values. As if all of that wasn’t bad enough, he offered a really ridiculous apology for his transgressions on the Duggar family’s website. “I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife,” he wrote.
