As Salem residents fully jump into 2017, it seems that all the drama, adventure and love will continue to be major themes within Days of Our Lives (DOOL) this new year. 5. Huge Returns

Hold onto your hats DOOL fans because there are some pretty big character returns headed your way! Anna DiMera, played by the loveable Leann Hunley, makes an appearance and returns this week. As well, it seems like everyone’s favorite super couple, Carrie and Austin Reed — played by Christine Clark and Austin Peck — are back on the DOOL scene. Anna returns January 9th, while fans can see Carrie and Austin’s return on January 11th.

4. Trip To Prague

Marlena, Rafe, Steve, and Paul arrive in Prague on Monday’s episode and the hunt for Stefano begins. Of course, they run into Anna, who seems to have it in for DiMera. Things get a little sticky for the Salemites when they search for Stefano, and Carrie and Austin pop up mid-week to help get Anna and Marlena out of a tight spot when the two women land themselves in jail.

3. Chabby Trying To Get Back On Track

Expect a little drama around the Chabi/Chabby love triangle this week. While Chad and Abby are trying to rebuild what they once had, Gabi seems to be popping up everywhere. While he and Abby work at spending more time together this week, it seems Chad will still be confused about his feelings for his wife and new love interest. Speaking of Gabi, J.J. calls her this week and tells her they need to talk; this peaks her interest. Is there hope for these two in the future?

2. Chloe Wakes Up From Her Coma

This is the one many fans have been waiting for! After what seemed like an eternity, Chloe will finally wake up from her coma this week. While she does try to clear up the questions around Holly’s paternity, it seems that her mother Nancy will step in to keep the entire secret intact. Will Nicole ever learn the truth? It doesn’t seem to be happening this week.

Onto another piece of news related to DOOL, but not the soap’s storylines. People reported last week, on January 6th, that the popular soap opera may be cancelled as early as May of this year. As the show renews its contract yearly, DOOL’s current agreement only stands through to 2017. It is being reported that execs have let some key employees know about the cancellation. One source with the show has stated that there won’t be a DOOL in 2018. It is also being speculated that the DOOL time slot will be given to Megyn Kelly, who has signed on to a new NBC role since leaving Fox News. No official announcement around all this has been made from NBC, DOOL producers, or Megyn Kelly.
