Celebrities provide hope for the everyday person that they too can live the good life, have houses in every continent, drive the fancy car, and find the right person. Hopes and dreams are dashed when the perfect famous couple announces that they’re seeing other people or filing for divorce. It’s incomprehensible how these two people who have it all no longer have each other. Blake belongs with Miranda, how can fans stand seeing him go out with anyone else? Clearly he can’t do better, so why did they end it? Here is a list of the top famous couples we wish had stuck it out and stayed together.

13. Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert

They met while singing “You’re the Reason God made Oklahoma” at the 2005 CMT’s 100 Greatest Duets Concert. Even though Blake Shelton was married at the time to Kaynette Gern, it was clear that these two were falling in love on stage. A year later, the newly single Shelton started dating the feisty Miranda Lambert. After five years of dating they got hitched in Texas, and fans were devastated when the perfect country couple announced their divorce in July, 2015.

12. Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder

It was love at first sight when these two Tim Burton stars met at the Great Balls of Fire premiere in 1989. A year later they were engaged and made their only movie together: Edward Scissorhands. However, they couldn’t make it last and they broke up after a three year engagement. The Sweeney Todd star started pursuing model Kate Moss after that; however, no couple was better suited in blissful weirdness than Depp and Ryder.

11. Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson

The former stars of The O.C. were adorable together on and off-screen. Fans were convinced that Summer Roberts (Rachel Bilson) and Seth Cohen (Adam Brody) were meant to be. When asked what it was like to kiss his leading lady, Brody said, “One of the all time greats.” Sadly they both moved on and Bilson had her first child with Star Wars star Hayden Christensen and Cohen married Gossip Girl Leighton Meester.

10. Seal and Heidi Klum

While pregnant with her former fiance’s (Flavio Briatore) child, Heidi Klum started dating musician Seal. Seal was there for the birth of Helene Klum in 2004. Later that year, they were engaged and tied the knot on a Mexican beach in 2005. Seal adopted Helene and they had three more children together. This couple were so committed that they renewed their vows on every anniversary of their marriage. After seven years of marriage, they went their separate ways reportedly over Seal’s temper, which was extremely unfortunate as they seemed like one of the most solid celebrity couples and spent so much time gushing over each other and their family.

9. Jonathan Groff and Zachary Quinto

Broadway and Glee star Jonathan Groff started dating Star Trek’s Mr. Spock (Zachary Quinto) in 2012. But a year later, their romance was over and Quinto went to New York to work on the play The Glass Menagerie and Groff went to Lea Michele’s side while she grieved for Corey Monteith. The two made an adorable couple and have nothing but nice things to say to each other, which gives us hope there could be a reconciliation in the future.

8. Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears

It’s been over 13 years since this denim loving couple (yes, they wore matching denim outfits) called it quits. He was her first kiss, which they shared while filming The Mickey Mouse Club when Spears was 13 years-old. Sadly, he won’t be her last kiss as he just had his first child with wife Jessica Biel. Every one who was a teen in the ’90s will forever hold out hope that these two former teen idols will find each other again.

7. Russell Brand and Katy Perry

This couple was weirdly cute together. The rocker and pop star were only married for 14 months, but Hollywood lost an amazing couple. When discussing her divorce, Katy Perry said, “It was emotionally traumatic for me. It was the death of a dream. I was in fairy tale land, and the reality of it wasn’t so.” Every relationship has its issues and fans of this couple are so sad that there doesn’t seem to be anyway they would ever get back together.

6. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

Before Miley Cyrus was the Miley we all know now, she was bearable, and cute, never more so than when she starred in The Last Song alongside Liam Hemsworth. When the two became engaged, it looked like they were at the top of the Hollywood power couple list; unfortunately, Hemsworth couldn’t handle Cyrus’ spiral into twerking, wearing pasties and sticking her tongue out all the time and they went their separate ways. If there’s anyone who could help Miley get back to normal, it would be Liam.

5. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams

While filming the romantic drama The Notebook (2004), the actors detested each other. But that hatred just fueled their on and off-screen chemistry. Viewers balled their eyes out when Noah and Allie died on screen, but were relieved to know that Canadians Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were together in real life. Then the unthinkable happened, and they went their separate ways, and fans’ hearts broke all over again.

4. Kermit and Miss Piggy

The Muppet couple that everyone grew up with has been together since the ‘70s. They were an amazing on-screen duo that every kid and even their parents grew up with. Now fans are being told that it’s over for good?! How could they date anyone else? Can you picture Miss Piggy with Fozzie? This is one of those couples who were destined to be together and we need it to be that way!

3. Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck

To the outside world, they were the perfect Hollywood couple, but the wedding rings are off and divorce papers were filed. They started dating after filming Daredevil (2003) and were married by former Alias co-star Victor Garber in 2005. Since then, they’ve had two girls and one son. After so many Hollywood breakups, many looked to Jen and Ben as the lasting story of true love and all hope was lost for fans when they found out even this couple couldn’t make it.

2. Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey

The Newlyweds got married in 2002 in Austin, Texas. According to Jessica Simpson, she remained a virgin before getting hitched to Nick Lachey. They were the stars of the reality TV show called The Newlyweds on MTV, which ran for three seasons from 2003 to 2005. They filed for divorce in 2006 — so much for marital bliss. When asked about his ex, Lachey said, “I wouldn’t say it’s friends and I wouldn’t say it’s enemies — there is just no contact. We both moved on with our lives…it’s not animosity, it’s not friendship, it’s just kind of nothing.” It’s too bad the relationship dissolved because they were the perfect couple, whose banter and quirks made them loveable.

1. Will Arnett and Amy Poehler

They were the ultimate comedic couple having met while working on SNL in the 2000s. Amy Poehler and Will Arnett were involved in several projects together including Arrested Development, Blades of Glory, Horton Hears a Who!, On Broadway, Spring Breakdown, Monsters vs. Aliens, Parks and Recreation, and The Secret World of Arrietty. After two kids and nine years of marriage, they ended it, but we wish they would find that spark that brought them together in the first place and give it another chance. They were funny, down-to-earth, and seemingly above the Hollywood drama, which made it that much more devastating when they called it quits.
