10 Of The Most Expensive Celebrity Wedding Dresses
Celebrities have the luxury of living a very high-end lifestyle, and while most are always looking for the best bargains and deals in order to put their big day together, that is something celebrities don’t have to worry about. From custom-made to the work of top designers, many stars have worn some extremely pricey wedding dresses while exchanging vows. The dresses vary in everything from style to color, but they all share the common theme of having a pretty hefty price tag! Here are 10 of the most expensive celebrity wedding dresses from recent years:
10. Nicole Richie
Nicole Richie has always had an eye for fashion and through all her changes from socialite, to reality TV star, to wife and mother, she has also become a fashion designer. Instead of designing her own, Richie rocked an incredible $20,000 Marchesa gown for her December 11, 2010 wedding to Good Charlotte musician Joel Madden. The gown included 100 years of silk organza tulle, a high neck lace cut, and a fitted bodice with a flared skirt. Now, the pair have been married for almost seven years and welcomed two children together before their 2010 nuptials.
9. Nicole Kidman
Like Nicole Richie, Nicole Kidman opted for a $20,000 gown when she walked down the aisle to country singer Keith Urban. On June 25, 2006, Kidman said “I do” in a Balenciaga by designer Nicolas Ghesquiere. The short-sleeved lace one-shoulder dress was paired with a classic long veil making for a vintage and classic wedding look for her big day. The year 2017 marks 11 years of marriage for Kidman and Urban, and the two have also welcomed two daughters since their wedding day.
8. Jennifer Aniston
When Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt were married on July 29, 2000, they officially become Hollywood’s hottest power couple, and she was dressed for the occasion. Aniston wore a $50,000 Lawrence Steele gown for the Malibu ceremony. The dress was elegant and beautiful with a glass-beaded low back and a high neck. She pulled it together with a traditional simple veil. After five years, the pair called it quits, and in 2015 she opted for a lot less flashy wedding to her now husband Justin Theroux.
7. Kim Kardashian (2011)
In 2011, Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Kim Kardashian was married to basketball player Kris Humphries in a very flashy affair. For her August 2011 nuptials Kardashian chose not one, but three, Vera Wang dresses all costing around $25,000. That brings her wedding wardrobe total for the day to a whopping $75,000. And to think, after spending $75,000 just on dresses alone, the marriage went on to be one of the shortest celebrity marriages ever as she filed for divorce only 72 days later.
6. Victoria Beckham
On July 4, 1999, one of the biggest celebrity weddings of the decade was held when Spice Girl Victoria Adams wed famous soccer player David Beckham. Given the fame of both, it is no surprise the wedding was quite the spectacle including Victoria’s custom Vera Wang dress which cost an estimated $100,000. The unique strapless ivory gown flaunted the singer’s tiny waist and featured a structured ball-gown skirt. The famous pair are now going on almost 20 years of marriage together and have four amazing children.
5. Jessica Biel
A wedding is sure to be one heck of a party when two celebrities tie the knot, and that was definitely the case for Jessica Biel’s wedding to Justin Timberlake. On October 19, 2012, the pair said “I do,” and Biel did it in a unique and eye-popping $100,000 gown. Biel opted to break from tradition and was pretty in pink in a Giambattist Valli fuchsia and pink patterned gown. If there was any chance all eyes wouldn’t be on the bride, that definitely wasn’t the case with this gown, and now the adorable pair have been married for five years and have welcomed one son.
4. Catherine Zeta Jones
Catherine Zeta Jones could have worn a plastic bag and still looked stunning at her wedding to Michael Douglas on November 18, 2000. Instead the actress wore a $140,000 hand beaded Christian Lacroix gown. The amazing dress featured a V-neck, gorgeous flowing skirt and she topped off the look with a stunning diamond tiara holding her veil. It seems Jones’ gorgeous dress is just as timeless as her marriage, as the famous duo are coming up on 17 years of marriage.
3. Amal Alamuddin
On September 27, 2014 George Clooney officially ended his reign as Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor when he wed gorgeous human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin. As individuals, their success is completely amazing, so it wasn’t surprising that Alamuddin opted for a lavish wedding gown to marry the Hollywood A-lister in. She donned a $380,000 custom Oscar de la Renta gown. The dress featured an off-the shoulder neckline with an all over lace applique and a stunningly detailed veil. Now, the pair have been married for almost three years and are expecting twins!
2. Princess Kate
Kate Middleton’s wedding dress for her televised nuptials to Prince William incited a wedding dress craze like never before as brides rushed to get their hands on a similar, yet less expensive, gown. On April 29, 2011, Middleton wore a custom dress by Sarah Burton who works as the creative designer for Alexander McQueen. The reportedly $400,000 gown featured lace sleeves and a lace applique bodice, a nine foot train, and a silk tulle veil. The Royal Family has never confirmed the cost of the wedding gown, but there is no doubt in anyone’s mind it was a pretty penny. Now, the royal couple have been happily married for six years and have welcomed two adorable children.
1. Kim Kardashian (2014)
Even though it was her third wedding, reality star Kim Kardashian spared no expense in her famous wedding to superstar rapper Kanye West. The two stars tied the knot in May 2014 in one of the most expensive celebrity weddings ever, thanks in large part to Kardashian’s stunning gown. She wore a $400,000 Givenchy dress designed by Riccardo Tisci that featured a sheer back, lace sleeves and an absolutely unbelievable train. It seems third time truly was a charm for the reality star as she and West have now been married for three years and have welcomed two children together.
