Hollywood is full of has-beens’, but there are some notable faces from the 1990s that became an essential part of our lives during that decade! Our days just wouldn’t have been the same without them! This list takes a look back at those actresses that kept us laughing and blubbering back in the day, and investigates what they’re up to now.
10. Gabrielle Carteris
Gabrielle Carteris will always be fondly remembered as Andrea Zuckerman, the misfit nerd and BFF of Brandon Walsh on the ‘90s classic Beverly Hills: 90210. Andrea’s character was written off of the show when she became pregnant and her storyline took a boring turn into motherhood. When Carteris left the hit drama, she was given her own talk show called Gabrielle, but it only lasted for one season. Since then, Gabrielle has only played minor roles in front of the camera for television shows like Touched by an Angel and Criminal Minds; however, she has done a lot of voice over work in television, film, and in video games. Her most recent role was in 2015 in Code Black for which she’s credited as “nurse.” Sounds bigtime!

9. Kellie Shanygne Williams
Who could ever forget Laauuuuraaa? Yes, that was the written form of Steve Urkel’s obnoxious, nasal voice! Kellie Shanygne Williams played the love interest of the infamously annoying character in Family Matters, which ran for nearly a decade from 1989-1998 on ABC and CBS. Once the sitcom ended she made appearances on other classic ‘90s shows like Moesha and had a regular spot on What About Joan in the early 2000s. Since her role as Cece in the 2009 film Steppin: The Movie, which was a huge flop, Williams has virtually dropped off the radar. To our knowledge, Urkel’s princess has no new upcoming projects in the works.

8. Christina Ricci
Christina Ricci was the “it girl” of the ‘90s with classic kid’s movies like Casper and Now and Then and big girl movies like Buffalo ’66, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Sleepy Hollow. Since 1999, Christina has continued only to appear in B-list flicks and made for TV Movies like The Laramie Project. Her career got a bit of a boost in 2011 with the television series Pan Am. While ABC cancelled the series, the show was an international success and won accolades abroad in Europe. Ricci is set to star alongside Courteney Cox, Sharon Stone, and Susan Sarandon in the 2016 film Mother’s Day. Maybe she’ll be able to make her way back onto Hollywood’s red carpets being next to that all-star lineup.

7. Neve Campbell
Neve Campbell was a staple part of ‘90s media culture, playing in classic shows like Party of Five, and films like The Craft and Scream. She made an attempt at moving into more serious adult roles in Wild Things and 54, but didn’t seem to manage to maintain the same star power. While she has continued to appear in films that nobody has seen, she’s also made minor appearances in television shows, only appearing in a handful of episodes. Her upcoming work includes voice work in Bremen Town Musicians and a guest appearance in the television series House of Cards.

6. Sarah Michelle Gellar
Sarah Michelle Gellar was the princess of the 1990s with her portrayal of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the television series, and classic teen-cult films like I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream 2, and Cruel Intentions. She was also the leading lady in many romantic films such as She’s All That and Simply Irresistible. Since the end of the decade, Gellar has been busy being a mom and lending her voice to many cartoon series and playing roles in B-list movies. In an attempt at a comeback she starred alongside Robin Williams in the TV series The Crazy Ones. Unfortunately, the show didn’t do much to raise her profile and was cancelled by CBS after one season. Since then, her roles have included voice acting gigs in episodes of Robot Chicken and Star Wars Rebels.

5. Elizabeth Berkley
Outside of Dancing With the Stars, Elizabeth Berkley has moved into the realm of obscurity. Her heyday was back in the ‘90s with her Bayside pals on Saved by the Bell. So she’s been in over 60 flicks…most are made-for-TV movies or single appearances on sub-par shows like Melissa & Joey. Back in the ‘90s, Berkley was getting gigs in Showgirls, The First Wives Club, and Any Given Sunday, but the closing of the decade brought about the waning of her career. The best thing she’s done in the last 15 years was her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on which she portrayed her throwback character Jessie Spano in an unforgettable parody of the classic ‘90s show.

4. Alicia Silverstone
Alicia Silverstone was at the epicenter of 1990s culture with films like Clueless, Batman & Robin, and Blast from the Past. But the early 2000s brought about the end of Silverstone’s A-list position and beginning of voice over work and made-for-TV movies. The curvaceous bombshell has yet to regain the popularity that she once held, but is set to play Janette in the 2016 film King Cobra alongside Molly Ringwald…enough said.

3. Leelee Sobieski
Leelee Sobieski is probably best known as Drew Barrymore’s nerdy friend in Never Been Kissed, but the 1990s saw Sobieski as an ever-present force, from television series like Joan of Arc and films like Deep Impact, Eyes Wide Shut, and Here on Earth. The early 2000s were relatively kind to Leelee with films such as Joy Ride and The Glass House in 2001. However, as the decade wore on, Sobieski saw less of the big screen and made minor appearances in single episodes of television series’ such as Frasier and The Good Wife. In 2006 she played a minor role in The Wicker Man which was nominated by the Razzie Awards for Worst Picture, among others. Sobieski does not currently have any projects on the horizon.

2. Lacey Chabert
Lacey Chabert was beloved for her portrayal of Claudia Salinger in ‘90s drama Party of Five. While Lacey has seemed to have kept herself busy since the end of the show in 2001, starring in B-list movies left-right-and-center, no one it seems has actually seen her. On the other hand, she’s made quite the impact on the voice over community, for which she has been nominated for several awards. I suppose of course, we can’t overlook her role in Mean Girls in 2004 either, but generally speaking, this multi-talented actress has fallen off the radar of Hollywood’s A-list.

1. Heather Locklear
Heather Locklear was the hottest thing in the 1990s! She starred in Dynasty until the late 1980s and then moved into the defining role of Amanda Woodward on Melrose Place. It was all downhill from there, appearing on the animated series King of the Hill for one episode, and then other countless sitcom guest slots on everything from The Drew Carey Show and Ally McBeal to Hannah Montana and Hot in Cleveland. Her crowning achievement must have been Scary Movie 5 in 2013, because you know, when they make 5 of something, it gets better every time…Locklear has no upcoming projects in the works.
