10 Celebrity Name Tattoos That Were Followed By Breakups

Tattoos are permanent. This is something that everyone – including celebrities – should be well aware of. They can be removed with lasers, but this process is said to be painful, expensive and time consuming. In spite of all the cons, many celebrities still choose to declare their love for their partners with a good old-fashioned tat. Many of these relationships don’t work out, which means many of these celebrities live to really regret their decision. We decided to make a list of celebrities who were foolish enough to ink their lovers’ names onto their bodies – only to break up. Check it out!

10. Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen

When Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards were married, they both inked each other’s names onto their skin. While he had her first name tattooed on his left wrist, she had his first name tattooed onto her ankle. Strangely, when they split, they didn’t get rid of their tattoos. Once the “Anger Management” star was engaged to Brooke Mueller, however, he finally decided to remove his ex’s name from his wrist while she had his name refashioned into a fairy.

8. Avril Lavigne and Brody Jenner

During their two-year relationship, Avril Lavigne and Brody Jenner decided to make their affections for each other permanent with some tattoos. She had his name tattooed on her chest while he had her name inked on his forearm. Sadly, one of the tattoos seems to have lasted longer than the relationship. 7. Angelina Jolie

When Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thorton were madly in love, she had his name, along with a dragon, inked onto her shoulder. When they split in 2003, the Oscar-winning Actress went through the process of having the tattoo removed. “As you can see, it’s in the process of being removed from my arm right now. There are just a few more laser treatments to go now before it is completely gone. So for the moment I am covering up the scar with a bit of make-up,” she said. Now, in its place, Jolie has the geographical coordinates of her children’s birthplaces.

Before Johnny Depp proposed to Winona Ryder back in 1990, he had “WINONA FOREVER” tattooed on his right arm. The tattoo ended up being a really bad decision. Ryder pulled the plug on their relationship only a few years later. After the break up, Depp was able to save face by changing the tattoo to “WINO FOREVER.” He should have known better though – Ryder was only 18 when they started dating and he was almost ten years older. 4. Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera had the initials of her husband-at-the-time Jordan Bratman inked on her lower back with the phrase, “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.” Unlike the tattoo, the relationship wasn’t equipped to stand the test of time. In 2010, the Grammy-winning singer filed for divorce. Apparently she is in the process of getting the tattoo removed, which wouldn’t be such a bad idea given that she is now engaged to Matt Rutler and expecting a child with him.

After they called it quits, JLo quickly moved onto to Casper Smart and Anthony hooked up with Venezuelan model Shannon De Lima. She was his “Statue of Liberty” because she “freed” Anthony from his painful past.

2. Heidi Klum

The “America’s Got Talent” judge had her husband-at-the time’s name – Seal – tattooed on her right forearm back in 2008 to celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary. Don’t follow my example. You can smell your flesh burning, and it’s my ass flesh burning. All bad… Booty tattoos, names of other men: ratchet. Don’t do it!” she advised.
